Snowden 2009 “The Ranch” Brand: Snowden Region: Napa Valley, Cali. (1,600 cases produced)
In 1962 Snowden Vineyards expanded and Cabernet Sauvignon clippings, from what is now known as the Stags Leap District, were planted. When Wayne Snowden died his sons took over the vineyard and replanted everything with Cabernet Sauvignon and until 1993 they sold all of their grapes to Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. That year they produced Snowden’s first vintage. To this day they still sell grapes to Silver Oak Wine Cellars, Frank Family Vineyard, Viader, and David Ramey. All of Snowden grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted. They use native yeast when fermented and go through a native malolactic fermentation in barrel (French oak). They age around 18 months and are bottled with no filtration. On the eye a deep and murky purple; looks as if it’s inky. "The Ranch" lifts your nose with nuances of black liquorish, dark fruits, sawdust and subtle menthol. The floral notes give it a viscosity as if it seems to be chewy. On the palate notes of tobacco soaked in plums and cassis coated with nutmeg and subtle pepper notes that rested in a fresh cigar box. Medium-bodied, smooth, with a floral chew. Anticipated Maturity: 2012 - 2019 |

La Crema Sonoma County Pinot Noir My pick for November is La Crema Pinot Noir. This deliciously creamy wine has flavors of ripe cherry & spice with a touch of dark chocolate. A rich, juicy mid-palate feel & vivid acidity lead to plush tannins on the lengthy finish. |
